Races and Classes

Skyrim's many races and playstyles

Races

There are a total of 10 playable races in Skyrim. 4 of which are different races of elves, 4 human, and 2 beast. Altmer, or High Elves, are the tallest, most magically inclined race. Argonians are a beast race that resembles that of a lizard. They can breathe underwater and have hard scaly skin making for good hand-to-hand fighters. Bosmer, or Wood Elves, are from a province known as Valenwood which is heavily wooded. Bosmer make great archers due to this. Bretons are a race of human which have elven blood. They are the most magically inclined human race. Dunmer, or Dark Elves, are native to the province Morrowind. They make good assassins and battlemages since they excel in stealth and destruction magic (namely fire magic). Imperials are a human race native to the province Cryodiil (The capital of the continent Tamriel where the Elder Scrolls takes place). They are natural leaders and tend to be able to find extra gold wherever they go. Khajiits are a races of beasts that resemble cats. Khajiits can take on many different forms. Some walk on two legs like a human while some more closely resemble house cats. They are very stealthly and make great thieves and assassins. With their sharp claws they also excel in hand-to-hand combat. Nords are the race of humans native to Skyrim. They are natural born warriors. Living in the cold lands of Skyrim, Nords have also evolved to have a natural resistance to the cold. Orsimers, or Orcs, are a race of elves that are incredibly strong and good at fighting. They make great warriors and forgers. Redguards are a race of humans from the province Hammerfell. They are commonly seen as sailors and mercenaries due to excelling with one-handed weapons.

Classes

There are many different ways to play Skyrim. The many different classes are part of what makes Skyrim so good even after playing through it 5+ times. There are the assassins who sneak around and kill enemies without being noticed, the warriors who charge head first into a battle and get rid of everyone in site, and the mages who cast spells from afar dealing incredible amounts of damage. These are the 3 main class archetypes, but their are may different subclasses within these classes and combinations of them. Stealth archers for instance, shooting enemies from afar without being seen. Battlemages who are on the frontlines with sword and spell in hand. Illusion assassins casting spells to make them quieter, or even invisible before sneaking up to the enemy and stabbing them in the back with a dagger. There are many more of these subclasses, and with so many it is almost impossible to get bored of playing.
